Salem Mennonite Church (Quakertown, Pennsylvania, USA)
Salem Mennonite Church, Quakertown, Pennsylvania, USA came into existence in 1946, meeting first in a small schoolhouse. This location became too small and the Franconia Mennonite Conference Mission Board purchased a three-story former cigar factory in Shelly in 1948.
Salem became an organized congregation in 1950. In 1970 while it seems popular to remodel or build a new church building, we were not influenced by this trend but rather by several facts. We were meeting in a building which was known by many of our community as the former cigar factory. Our present building did not enhance the dignity and values which a church should be giving in our community. In 1970 we started to plan what we were hoping to do. We hoped to begin building in the rear of the old building. In 1971 we had completed the present building. Our congregation is a multi-generation of families and friends. Our worship is a mixture of contemporary and traditional music. We are followers of Jesus; on a journey intentionally pursuing God.
