Alberta Mennonite Health Society was organized in 1932 as a mutual aid organization to cover medical expenses of its members, who lived within 16 miles (26 km.) from Coaldale, Alberta, the headquarters. The membership varied from 100 to the number in 1959 of 380. Annual charges (up to 1959) varied from $12.00 to the 1959 fee of $92.00 per family. It served both the Mennonite Brethren and General Conference Mennonite Mennonite groups.
