Leentgen, wife of Jan van Rheenen, an Anabaptist martyr, was drowned on 21 May (van Braght, erroneously 15 May ) 1535, at Amsterdam, with a number of other Anabaptist women, including her daughter Adriana Jans, while another daughter, Lysbeth Jans, had been put to death on 15 May. Leentgen had been (re) baptized early in December 1534 in her own house at Amsterdam by "a man of Benschop," who is obviously Gerrit Ghysen of Benschop.
