Testament is the title often given to the letters that the Anabaptist martyrs wrote to their relatives after they had been sentenced to death, particularly to their children. Anneken Jans of Rotterdam wrote such a "testament" to her little son, which begins with the words "Isaiah, receive your testament"; Joost Verkindert wrote to his children: "Keep this letter for a testament." The testament of Soetken van den Hout(t)e to her children was separately printed in 1579.
