Nicolai, Idzardus (ca. 1560-1611)

Idzardus Nicolai (Idzerd Klases), b. at Franeker ca. 1560, d. 1611, a Reformed minister at Tjummarum in Friesland  ca. 1590-1592, Franeker 1592-1599, Hallum 1599-1603, and Minnertsga 1603-1611, wrote an extensive book against the Mennonites under the title Grontlicke onderwijsinghe teghen allerleye dwalinghen der Wederdooperen deses tijts in de Nederlanden (Franeker-Amsterdam, 1609, two vols., 800 pages). An abbreviated version was printed in Franeker with the title, Leere der Waerheyt, van eenighe Leerstucken die door de Drijvers der nieuwicheden berispt ende ghelastert worden.
