Schrijver, Pieter Arends (born 11 November 1665 at Hoorn, died 11 April 1742, at Haarlem) was a preacher of the Waterlander congregation at Hoorn 1691-1706 and of the united Flemish, Frisian, and High German congregation on the Klein Heiligland at Haarlem 1706 (elder 1710) until his death. He was known for his conservative views and his attachment to the old Mennonite confessions. A volume of his sermons, Evangelische Genade-Leere betoogd in predicatien, appeared after his death (Amsterdam, 1746). He married Maria Maatschoen, who died in 1727; in the same year two of his sons died, aged 23 and 27. By trade he was a dyer. It is very curious that this conservative man was among the first Mennonites to wear a fashionable wig with powdered curls.
