Rudolf Egli was imprisoned with Uhli Schmied and Hans Müller in the Rathaus of Zürich in 1635, escaped, and was recaptured in 1637; his house was destroyed. His wife, Martha Lindingerin, was brutally compelled to betray where the alms fund of the congregation was hidden, which was in Rudolf Egli's care, and which amounted to 2,000 talers.
