Pieter Jansz (d. 1549)
Pieter Jansz (Peter Janssen), an Anabaptist martyr who had been baptized by Gillis van Aken, was burned at the stake on 20 March 1549, at Amsterdam with seven other martyrs. He was a native of "Lininckhuysen" (Lüdinghausen in the bishopric of Münster, Westphalia?), a shoemaker by trade. His wife Trijnken van Dorsten was executed on 15 January, 1550. Pieter and his comartyrs are commemorated in the hymn "Tis nu schier al/vervult ons broeders getal" (The number of our brethren is now nearly complete), found in the Dutch hymnal Veelderhande Liedekens of 1556 and following editions.
