Losenegger, Moritz (d. 1536)
Moritz Losenegger was an Anabaptist martyr of Bern, Switzerland, a native of Thun, who was banished from the canton on 20 December 1532, but returned and was arrested. He was sentenced to die for breaking the exile, but was pardoned on 8 January 1533, and was then banished again under threat of death if he should return once more. He nevertheless came back. In the autumn of 1535 it was learned that he was staying at Trachselwald; on 28 October the government ordered his arrest, but he was not seized until 2 May 1536. He was then executed at Bern. No particulars are known concerning his work, except that he was a zealous preacher. In van Braght's list of martyrs in the Martyrs' Mirror Losenegger was the eleventh Anabaptist martyr in Bern.
