Zusterkring (Sister Circle), a Dutch name for women's organizations. From before 1890 in a few Dutch Mennonite congregations (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle) there were women's circles which were active on behalf of missions; at the same time a women's circle of Zaandam-Oost was active in visiting the sick members of the church. Since about 1920 women's circles have been started in nearly all of the Dutch Mennonite congregations; some have two or three. During the 1950s some of these were sewing circles for relief or in behalf of missions; some were social associations; and some were groups for religious education. Most women's circles cultivated religious education as well as practical and social activity.

In 1949 nearly all Dutch Mennonite women's circles were organized into the General Federation of Women's Circles (in 1958 c3,500 members). Annual delegate meetings were held at Elspeet. A general meeting was held at Amsterdam, 2-3 September 1954, with 2,600 Mennonite women attending. There were also regional associations in Friesland and Groningen.
