Schellingwou, Jan Jansz (17th century)
Jan Jansz Schellingwou (Schellinckwou), (not to be confused with the Anabaptist leader Jan van Schellingwou), was in the early 17th century a Waterlander preacher (congregation unknown) in the Dutch province of Friesland. In 1610 he and some other Waterlander preachers and elders, e.g., Hans Matthysen (Matthijs), Dirk Doedes, Ane Anes, and Yeme de Ringh, opposed the plan of the Waterlander congregation of Amsterdam to merge with the English (Brownist) church of John Smyth.
