Hotevilla (Arizona, USA)
Hotevilla-Bacavi is a settlement on the third mesa in the southern half of the Hopi reservation, seven miles from Oraibi, made up of those who were driven out of Oraibi in 1906 by Hopis that were friendly toward the government. The work there had been begun by Marie Schirmer, with the assistance of John R. Duerksen who moved to Hotevilla in October 1919. He built a chapel and mission house near the village. Marie Schirmer resigned in August 1919, and the work of both Hotevilla and Bacabi was left to the Duerksens until 1929 or 1930. After that J. P. Suderman was responsible for this station and from 1949 Daniel Schirmer was there for several years. In 1953 Walter Goossen was stationed at Hotevilla. He was followed in 1955 by Herbert Peters.
