Oscar Burkholder was a prominent Mennonite Church (MC) evangelist and Bible teacher. He was born 24 September 1886 in Pickering, Ontario, the son of Aaron W. and Agnes Wood Burkholder. He received a Biblical training at the Toronto Bible College. He served as pastor of the Cressman Mennonite Church in Breslau, Ontario from 1913 until 1954 and was ordained as bishop in 1949. He also served as a teacher (1920-1956) and principal (1948-1954) in the Ontario Mennonite Bible School. In addition to serving on numerous district conference and General Conference committees, Burkholder was president of the Ontario Mennonite Mission Board for 14 years and moderator of the Mennonite General Conference (1949-1951). He preached over 8,000 sermons and conducted 180 revival meeting series and 89 Bible Conferences. He died 29 October 1956.
