Seney Mennonite Church (Seney, Michigan, USA)
The Fernland Mennonite Church at Germfask, Michigan, established a Sunday school on Sunday afternoons in Seney, Michigan, in 1946. Seney is on the edge of the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, where Civilian Public Service men worked during World War II. Early in the 1900s, Seney was a lumbering town of about 3,000. By the 1960s, its population was under 200.
In 1951, the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Mission Board ordained Victor V. Miller as the first resident minister for Seney.
The mission board built a church in Seney that was dedicated on 2 November 1952.
In 1967, the congregation withdrew from the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC) because of the denomination's theological trends. It continued as an independent Mennonite congregation until 1977, when it joined the new Midwest Mennonite Fellowship.
