Good News Fellowship in Ferndale, Washington started in 1980 when ten families from the Birch Bay Mennonite Brethren Church felt led by God to plant a church in Ferndale under the leadership of Pastor Harold Schroeder.

In August 1977 the Pacific District Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Board of Home Missions, encouraged by members of the Birch Bay Mennonite Brethren Church, sponsored a demographic study in the North Bellingham/East Ferndale community of Washington state, confirming the potential of establishing a new church. Their vision was to establish a Bible-teaching fellowship in the area. By 1979 the Birch Bay congregation had voted to support a daughter church, and ten families from the congregation began meeting in Ferndale for weekly Bible studies under the leadership of Pastor Harold Schroeder from Visalia, California. Good News Fellowship held their first Sunday morning service on 6 January 1980 with 44 people in attendance.

A facility was built and dedicated in 1981. An addition was added in 1983 and a Youth-Education-Gym facility constructed in 1989-90. The Worship Center was enlarged in 1993 to double its capacity. An additional Sunday School wing was added in 1994.

In 1990 the church, along with Birch Bay Bible Community Church, helped to organize Community Bible Fellowship in Bellingham, Washington.
