Rekker, a Dutch family name, borne by four Mennonite ministers. Meindert Huyberts Rekker was a lay preacher of Sneek 1723-ca. 1757. Jan Pieters Rekker was a lay preacher of the congregations of Veenwoudsterwal ca. 1740-1749, Groningen (united Flemish and Waterlander congregation) 1749-51, and Winsum-Obergum 1751-ca. 1775. Gerlof (Gerlaicus) Rekker of Dokkum studied at the University of Franeker and the Mennonite Seminary at Amsterdam and served the congregations of Den Hoorn on the island of Texel 1754-56, Bolsward 1756-59(?), and Vlissingen 1759-d.1809. His son Bartholomeus Rekker (1768-1844) was a merchant and writer. Sicco Rekker (1767-1835), also of Dokkum, and apparently a relative of Gerlof's, studied at the Amsterdam Mennonite Seminary and was a minister at Middelburg 1790-1832. His son Pieter Rekker served there as a deacon for many years.
