Jan Hendricks (d. 1559)
Jan Hendricks (Heyndricx), an Anabaptist martyr, was strangled and burned at the stake on 21 February 1559 at Middelburg, Dutch province of Zeeland, together with Mayken Daniels and Andries van Laerbeke. They had all three fled from Flanders because of their faith and were arrested 15 July 1558. The city government of Middelburg questioned the Catholic priest at Roesselare, Flanders, about them, indicating that they had lived there. Jan was a native of Waert (Weerden) and was by trade a locksmith.
