Polrus, Erhard (d. 1532)
Polrus (Pulrus, Pilraust), Erhard, an Anabaptist martyr, baptized by George of Staffelstein in Esperstedt, near Frankenhausen in Thuringia, in 1529, was arrested in early January, but released when he recanted. But he almost immediately returned to the Anabaptists, was seized in the middle of 1530 with six fellow believers, and since he again recanted was released with the penalty of having his cheeks burned through. Soon, however, he was persuaded by the Anabaptist leader Alexander to return to the brotherhood. He was arrested the third time and executed with two companions in mid-November 1532 at Allstedt.
