The Christian Laymen's Evangelistic Association, Inc., was organized by a group of laymen (Mennonite Church) largely around Orrville, Ohio, to promote evangelistic tent campaigns and city-wide crusades. Its evangelist at first was Howard Hammer, and after his departure to Brazil as a missionary in 1955 he was succeeded by Myron Augsburger.
