Prague (Czech, Praha) (population in 2007, 1,204,897), capital since 1919 of Czechoslovakia and since 1993 of the Czech Republic, the center of the Hussite movement of the 15th century. In 1521-1522 Thomas Müntzer visited the city and on 1 and 25 November 1521, announced his peculiar religious views in his "Manifesto of Prague." Volkmar Fischer, an Anabaptist of Hesse, was imprisoned at Prague in 1532. Julius Lober's list of martyrs (1531) names four martyrs beheaded in Prague, and the list of the Geschicht-Buch names eleven by 1542. The archives of the Ministry of the Interior contain some source materials on Anabaptist history. No Anabaptist congregation was ever established here.
