Mennonite Aid Union of Kansas, an unincorporated mutual assessment association, was organized in 1906. Most of the founders were former members of the Mennonite Aid Plan of Freeman, SD, who felt it would be more economical to organize a society for local Mennonites than to have one whose members were widely scattered.
