Jut was a former Dutch Mennonite family, found from the 17th century at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], where some of the members were deacons of the [[Zonists|Zonist]] congregation. An important member of this family was Pieter Nicolaas Jut van Breukelerwaard (Amsterdam 1786-Laag Soeren 1874), at first a stock dealer at Amsterdam. Staying at Hanau, [[Germany|Germany]], for recovery from a serious disease, he was won over to nature cure, and after his return to [[Netherlands|Holland]] bought a country place at Laag Soeren, which was later set up as a nature cure establishment. He translated a number of books and pamphlets on nature cure. He willed a sum of money to the Mennonite conference of Friesland (F.D.S.), which is administered as the Fund-Jut van Breukelerwaard.
