Hochfeld was a village in the province of Ekaterinoslav, Ukraine, South Russia, 12 miles (20 km) from the station Sofievka, founded by Heinrich Thiessen, a mill owner, who in 1848 bought 5,000 acres of land and settled his children on it. In consequence of the nationalization of all land in 1917 and the following years, this Mennonite settlement dissolved.
