Herman and Gerrit (Gerryt) Jansz, brothers, Anabaptist martyrs, were sentenced to death at Leeuwarden, Dutch province of Friesland, on 24 October 1536 because they had lodged Menno Simons. They lived in or near Witmarsum where Menno Simons had been a priest, leaving the Catholic Church on 31 January 1536. In October of this year Menno paid a secret visit to his friends, which brought death to these two brethren.
