The Bethlehem Community Fellowship began in 1985 as a church plant in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
After struggling for some years, by 2016, the congregation had begun to attract young millennials and recovered from a low of 12 members to over 70 persons in attendance.
In September 2022, the Bethlehem Community Fellowship changed its name to East Gate.
In 2024, the congregation's website outlined a charismatic theology and did not mention any connection to an Anabaptist-Mennonite theology or denomination.
