The Swalwell Country Church near Acme, Alberta began after revival meetings in 1991 at the large Linden Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Some members believed the congregation was too large, not allowing many members to share their talents. The Swalwell and Sunnyslope congregations emerged from this conviction in 1992.
A meeting held 24 January 1992 at the Swalwell Community Hall marked the organization of the group that included 32 households totally 76 members. Minister Ray Koehn and Deacon Crist Unruh served as the first ordained leaders of the Swalwell congregation.
The group decided on 28 July 1992 to build a church a fellowship hall; it was first used on 13 February 1993.
The congregation also operates the Kneehill Christian School together with the Linden Church of God in Christ, Mennonite and the Sunnyslope Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
