The Bow Island Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation in Bow Island, Alberta, Canada was established in 1997. The congregation began when families began to move to this rural area 320 km southeast of Calgary because of milder weather and the challenge of farming new land. Medicine Hat, located 60 km east, was the closest urban area.
Kerry and Rachel Baerg were the first to move in fall 1996, with another five families joining them in the following spring and summer. Church rotated between homes, and school was held in the basement of a home. In 1997/98 both school and church were held in the Gateway Community Church. The Holdeman group purchased the church in April 1999. The first number of years there was no resident minister.
Most families in 1999 were farmers, with crops including edible beans, corn, wheat, beets, barley, potatoes, and hay.
In 2019 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The minister was Delbert Enz; there were 79 members.
