Meeden, a village in the Dutch province of Groningen, where there was a Mennonite congregation belonging to the Groningen Old Flemish and closely connected with that of Beerta in the early 17th century. It was always small, reaching its highest point in 1773 with a baptized membership of 100, but then rapidly decreasing. Since the end of the 18th century it has been merged with Midwolda. Originally meetings were held in a private home. In the 18th century a plain meetinghouse was erected, and a new one was built in 1871. This was used until a new church of the united congregation of Midwolda, De Meeden, and Beerta (later called Winschoten), was built at Winschoten in 1931.
