Anneken van Brüssel was an Anabaptist martyr whose true name was Tanneken Leonets. She was unmarried. Four fellow believers (Jacob de Schoenlapper and his wife, Tanneken Walraven, and Grietgen, a widow of Brussels) were burned at the stake with her at Antwerp on Pentecost, 22 May 1575, with screws on their tongues. At the close of the account in the Martyrs Mirror it is said that these witnesses produced many writings in their captivity, which were, however, destroyed in the revolt against the Spanish on 4 November 1576.
