Mennonite Aid Union of Kansas, an unincorporated mutual assessment association, was organized in 1906. Most of the founders were former members of the [[Mennonite Aid Plan|Mennonite Aid Plan of Freeman, SD]], who felt it would be more economical to organize a society for local Mennonites than to have one whose members were widely scattered.
