The congregation began services in the 1980s. Alvin Roth is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through outreach by the Inter-Mennonite Conference (Ontario).
Agape follows a house church model. Interim Minister Lynne Williams served in 2015 as congregational leaders. In 1995 there were 36 members; in 2000, 14; in 2015 14. The group meets at the Valleyview Mennonite Church on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m.
