Paul Bartel is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through colonization from Manitoba. Northumberland also operates the Northumberland Christian School.
In 1996 there were 34 members; in 2000, 40. The congregation has been affiliated with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
Ministers Leroy Boese and Bruce Isaac served in 2001 as non-salaried congregational leaders.
