Andries Jacobsz (also called Adriaen Jacobsen), a Flemish Anabaptist martyr, son of Jacob Dirksz and brother of Hans (Jan) Jacobsz, was burned at the stake together with them on 17 March 1568 at Antwerp. Van Braght relates that he was betrothed at the time he was captured and that his fiancee and also his sister were among the bystanders who witnessed the execution. The father, Jacob Dirksz, had some time previously fled with his family from Utrecht in the Netherlands to Antwerp in order to escape persecution.
