Tjaert Tyerczoon, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake on 1 June 1538, at Leeuwarden in Friesland, Netherlands. He had previously been banished from Friesland for six years because of heresy, his heresy consisting in owning forbidden books by Luther and others. After his return to Friesland he joined the Anabaptists, being baptized by a certain Bartholomeus (possibly Bartel de Boeckbinder).
