Pieter de Bisschop (dates of birth and death unknown), was chosen deacon in the Dutch Reformed refugee congregation of Frankfurt on 17 November 1570. According to Vos he later also lived in Antwerp. After 1580 (at least until 1597) he lived in Rotterdam, where he was an elder of the Reformed Church. He was a grim opponent of the Mennonites. To that end he wrote among other things: Antwoort-liedt op eens Wederdoopers Lasterliedt . . . (5th ed., Rotterdam, 1600; the first edition was probably printed in 1593), and Spieghel der Waterlantscher Wederdooperen Leughenkonst, . . . (Rotterdam, 1597). Hans de Ries wrote against de Bisschop: Verthoon van verscheyden onwaerheden ende loogen . . . , of which no printed copy is known, but the manuscript is found in the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Library (Bibliotheek en Archief van de Vereenigde Doopsgezinde Gemeente te Amsterdam)|Amsterdam Library]] (26 pages).
