Mabé is a Dutch Mennonite family, apparently of Flemish descent, whose members lived particularly in Groningen and Haarlem, and belonged to the Groningen Old Flemish branch. Jan Jansz Mabé, of Groningen, who likely was a preacher, was present at a Flemish conference at Middelstum in 1628 (Groningsche Volkjalmana\ 1921, 103). At Haarlem, Evert Mabé was a preacher of the Groningen Old Flemish congregation from 1711 until his death about 1754; Pieter Mabé was a merchant or factory-owner, and in 1743-d. 1781 a preacher in the same congregation. Cornelis Mabé (1696-ca. 1760) was at first a preacher, then an elder of the Danzig Old Flemish group at Haarlem, as was his son Cornelis Mabé de Jonge 1753-ca. 1758. In the 19th century some of the descendants of Cornelis Mabé served as deacons in the Haarlem Mennonite church. Femina Mabé (1784-1870), of Haarlem, was married to Samuel Muller.
