Georg Steiner (also called Goldschmidt, that is, Goldsmith), a goldsmith of Salzburg, in whose house the local Anabaptists met in 1527. Hans Hut preached here several days and baptized Steiner among others, and lived with Steiner for ten days. Steiner became the treasurer of the congregation. Later Steiner was seized by the authorities of Salzburg. He recanted and was therefore put to death by beheading. His 16-year-old daughter, however, remained steadfast and died as a martyr by drowning.
