Dieteren, a small town in the Dutch province of Limburg, formerly belonging to the duchy of Jülich. By about 1534 it was a center of Anabaptist activity. Jan Smeitgen and Lenart van Ysenbroek baptized here, the latter baptizing the martyrs Bartholomeus van den Berghe and his wife Mente Heynen. After a short time the Anabaptist movement was entirely extinguished here.
