Jelle Brouwer, b. at Franeker about 1725; in 1749 ministerial candidate, then preacher in Kleve, Germany, chosen with the approval of the church council of the Mennonite congregation in Amsterdam, from 1 January 1750, to his death, 9 January 1782. He delivered the funeral address for Abraham Alders, preacher at Goch, which was published in 1774. He was succeeded by his son Pieter Brouwer.
