Meneest or Meneese, a name by which 19th-century Mennonites were sometimes known in the areas in which they lived in eastern Pennsylvania, Ohio, and possibly elsewhere. Theodore Bean, historian of Montgomery County, PA, stated that the Mennonites called themselves "Meneest." This was evidently a corruption of the Dutch and German Mennist.
