Marken-Binnen, a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland, where from early times Anabaptists were found. They soon formed a congregation of the Waterlander branch, but being rather conservative it in 1674 joined the Zonist conference. Its membership was always very small. With the neighboring congregations of Krommeniedijk, Uitgeest, and KnollendamKnollendam it formed the union of "the four congregations," in which, however, each of them had a great measure of independence. From about 1675 Marken-Binnen had no preachers of its own, but was served by those of Uitgeest and of Knollendam. In 1678 it contributed 28 guilders to the needs of the Swiss Brethren in the Palatinate and in 1726, 33 guilders for the Lithuanian Mennonites. After the congregation of Uitgeest had died out about 1750, Marken-Binnen was served by Knollendam until Marken-Binnen itself was dissolved. The [[Naamlijst der tegenwoordig in dienst zijnde predikanten der Mennoniten in de Vereenigde Nederlanden|Naamlijst]] of 1815 stated that this had happened, but it seems that the seven remaining members of Marken-Binnen did not unite with the congregation of Knollendam until 1828. Then in 1829 the old meetinghouse of Marken-Binnen was sold.
