Lysken, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake on 11 September 1538, at Vught near ’s Hertogenbosch in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Lysken and her husband, Jan Blok of Ghent, belonged to the small congregation of ’s Hertogenbosch, of which Paulus van Drunen was the bishop. Eight members of this congregation were apprehended and, remaining steadfast, were burned at the stake at Vught on 10-11 September 1538. Van Braght gives an account from an old manuscript which he received from Friesland. In the account of the trial and execution, van Braght mentions twelve martyrs but names only four of them (Paulus van Drunen, Jan Block, Michiel Stevensz, and Adriaen of The Hague), not including Lysken.
