Willem Jansen, a Mennonite elder at Emden, East Friesland, Germany, whom K. Vos considers to have been the secretary of the disputation held at Emden in 1578 between some Flemish Mennonite leaders and a number of Calvinist theologians. If this surmise is correct, Willem Jansen and not Card van Gent (Ghendt), under the pseudonym of I.H.V.P.N., is the author of Beginsel en Voortganck. der Geschillen.
