Pieter Jeltjes, a Dutch elder and merchant living at Kollum, province of Friesland, and a member of the Old Frisian branch of the Mennonites. In 1599 he became involved in a disagreement with Elder Jan Jacobsz, who was very strict, considering it sin to sell to non-Mennonites, and who at a conference of Old Frisian delegates meeting at Dokkum on 16 December 1599, banned the more liberal Pieter Jeltjes and his adherents (known as Pieter-Jeltjesvolk). Concerning Pieter's life and work nothing further is known.
