Falfurrias, Texas, is a town (pop. 5,000 in 1950; pop. 5,297 in 2000) in Brooks County in the southern part of the state. Mennonites have lived in the area since the early 1930s. In 1954, 59 Mennonites, belonging to the Mennonite Church and Mennonite Brethren groups, lived within shopping distance to the north and northwest of the town.
