Christian Alseider, an Anabaptist martyr, was executed in 1533 (not in 1536 as stated in the Martyrs Mirror) with six others: Hans Bekh, Balser Schneider, Waltan Gsäl, Wölfl of Götzenberg, Hans Maurer and  Peter Kranewetter, in the castle of Gufidaun (in the Adige Valley in Austria). To make them recant they were severely tortured. Only Wölfl wavered under the duress, but he repented and then remained steadfast like the rest. In a letter to the congregation in the Adige they stated that there were ten others still in prison, all of whom wished to witness for the Lord with their blood.
