Aemilius Willem Wybrands (Wijbrands), born 1 October 1838 at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], died 22 September 1886 at Leiden, was educated at the Athenaeum and [[Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary (Kweekschool)|Mennonite seminary at Amsterdam]] and served as pastor of the Mennon­ite congregations of [[Edam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Edam]] 1862-1870, [[Hoorn (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Hoorn]] 1870-1882, and [[Leiden (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Leiden]] 1882-1886. Though he died before the age of 48, he left a large number of writings, particular­ ly dealing with medieval history and literature. Among his best works are <em>Het kerkelijk. drama in de Middeleeuwen</em> (1861), <em>De Dialogus Miraculorum van Ceasarius van Heisterbach</em> (1873), and <em>De Abdij Bloemhoj te Wittewierum </em>(1883).

Though he died before the age of 48, he left a large number of writings, particular­ ly dealing with medieval history and literature.
