Philip Andreas Grandidier was an abbot, historian of [[Alsace (France)|Alsace]]. He died on a journey to study the archives in [[Grand Lucelle (France, Switzerland)|Lucelle]] (Sundgau). In a posthumously published work, <em>Oeuvres inédites de Grandidier</em> (Colmar, 1865-68, 6 vols.), he discusses the Mennonites with pleasant objectivity, thus making his book a notable source for Mennonite history, especially in Alsace.
