Ghysbert Jansz, a Dutch [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, burned at the stake at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]] on 20 March 1549. He was a native of the town of Woerden, province of South Holland, and had been baptized by [[Gillis van Aken (ca. 1500-1557)|Gillis van Aken]]. Together with Ghysbert seven other martyrs, five men and two women, were put to death. They are celebrated in a song, "Tis nu schier al vervult ons broeders getal" (The number of our brethren is now almost complete), which is found in [[Veelderhande Liedekens|<em>Veelderhande Liedekens</em>]] of 1556, 1566, and later editions.
