The Wallacetown Amish settlement existed between 1962 and 1964 when several Amish families immigrated from Indiana. Jonas N. Troyer was the founding leader of the group. The settlement failed because further potential Amish immigrants refused to sign Canadian immigration documents stating they would become Canadian citizens, vote and send their children to high school. The border was considered "closed" for several years.
The settlement was located five km west of Wallacetown along Elgin County Rd. 3. It had been affiliated with the Old Order Amish. The language of worship was German.
